Accra to Tamale

When I landed in Tamale for the first time, I had no idea what to expect.

Meeting the weavers I’d been collaborating with faces I’d only seen through a phone was already beautiful and grounding. But I came with a mission.

I didn’t know who would make them, but Tamale brought her to me.

I didn’t find the right person; she found me.

And that moment?

That’s where the real story begins.

I had three days to find someone who could bring a new vision to life. The idea for my bags had sparked in Accra, after wanting to buy one and feeling a strange sense of gatekeeping around it. In that moment, I realised I could create my own.

A vision, a need, and a refusal to be limited that’s where the story truly began
